Day 7 - I'm Thankful For...

... my Bible. My neighbor and good friend, Laura, got it for me. It is a parallel Bible.

It is a parallel between the NIV and the Message. I recently discovered The Message and I love it. I really love this book because both versions are side by side and it makes it so much more easy for me to read and compare both.

I don't know if you can read it or not, but this might give you an idea of how The Message reads, and why I love the parallel!

Day 6 - I'm Thankful For...

...our church. It's a wonderful feeling knowing that we have a whole congregation thinking of our family and including us in their prayers. Which is clearly evidenced by this adorable Prayer Blanket made by the ladies of our church, each knot tied by members of the church and prayers whispered each time. A "blanket of prayers". :)

Gifted Tuesday

Last night we continued our Bible study and book discussion of 1000 Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are. Did you get your copy or ebook yet? I highly recommend that you do!

Last night we discussed (for close to 3 hours!) Colossians 3 and Chapters 3 and 4 of the book.

Chapter 3 is about making the change to be purposely thankful. It takes intention. This is when the Author starts her Journal. She writes down gifts she already has, not gifts she wants. She talks about learning contentment. Learning thankfulness. Good stuff!

Chapter 4 is my favorite chapter, so far. It's about time. How we spend our time. Why we think we don't have enough time. Why do we rush through life like we're being chased? Consider everything we miss out on because we're rushing. What do we accomplish by being in a hurry?What are we really late for? Think about everything that we could be and should be thankful for, but we missed it because we're running late and barking at the kids or hubby because they're lolly-gagging and you're all gonna be late for... what? The author challenges you to slow down to ponder and be truly thankful for everything in that moment. She reminds us that God is I Am. Not "I will be, when you finally get here". (Although He'll be that too). Be here. Now.
