I reviewed a book for booksneeze.com called Covenant Child by Terri Blackstock. It was about a man who was a single father of 3 year old twin girls, after their mother died in a car crash. Weeks after he remarried a woman whose only goal in life was to be a mother, he and his parents died in a plane crash. The man's father was a billionaire and so the new wife and the girls were left with all the money, with stipulations. Immediately, the biological mother's 'trailer-trash' parents come claiming the girls, to get to the money. The twins grow up being told lie after lie about their father, his wife and their inheritance.
This book was mostly well written, I thought, and at some points I had to put it down and regain my composure, due to the way the girls were treated at times. As a parent, a mother whose heart breaks for the children in the story, it was hard to read. The end, I thought was predictable and a bit unfinished, though you could imagine how it would have been written.
Overall I thought it was a good read on our 16 hour drive to Texas last week.
