Two Weeks

We found out that Jeremy's Grandma Edie (Dad's mom) has cancer. Everywhere. She's been in and out of the hospital and nursing home for the last several weeks. Four weeks ago Jeremy went and visited her at the nursing home and she was doing great!! I got to talk to her on the phone, they shared a Mt. Dew... Last Friday, they sent Grandma back to the hospital. She's not able to walk or get around by herself. She is pretty much sleeping all the time, not always coherent, and it's pretty darn hard to see her like this. This is an amazing woman that I wish I knew better. I wish I had asked her more questions and heard more stories of her life. She was born in England and met Jeremy's Grandpa when he was serving in England during WWII. They were married for 25-something years and had three great kids! She's a fabulous person with a faint English accent who always calls me "Love". She worked as a waitress at the local restaurant on Wednesdays until a few months ago when her legs got really bad. She worked "Fried Chicken Days" because those were the days when the tips were the best! :) She loves Bingo. Recently at the nursing home she's been collecting bags of M&Ms as her winnings to give to the great-grandkids.

At this point, doctors are saying that within the next two weeks, her body will start shutting down. Her 85th birthday is on Friday. We plan to get most of the family up there for a party. Carter and I sang her Happy Birthday on Sunday when we were there, not knowing when we'd see her again...

So, please pray for this family as we are now playing the waiting game...

Praying for you and your family through this difficult time. May it be a reminder of the beautiful blessing each single day is with our loved ones. Take care!
